Day 8

It was the I-Camp day

I was a bit late because I had a small accident car

So I arrived there at 9:15

It was busy day... There were students from DWC and Etihad Private School

I helped in a lot of things such as distributing the paper and organizing the students......

As well, I learned a lot of staff specifically in how to organize the training which could help me later on my project and my major  

Day 7

Actually, I reached the office @ 9:15 AM

All the team were already there with Sulaf – the CEO – because she just come from Jordan – family emergency – she had a quick chat with me about my work and how the things are going around  

In the fact, she already know my brother Hussain Ishaq he had work for HSBC and he contacted a lot with INJAZ  before he left to AD ,  and she seems surprised when she know I am his sister 

I wrote the minutes for yesterday meeting with some help from May the Program Manger and I sent it to the team

Furthermore, I had another meeting for half an hour with May, Hassan and Mohammed to know the tasks that I am going to handle for tomorrow’s I-Camp and we end by list of things  

Also, I typed the certificates for the students and the attendances sheets

What I have for tomorrow?

Since there will be  I – Camp tomorrow which will host almost 100 students form DWC and Al Etihad Private School I will not go to the office, directly I will go to the conference center and I will try to be there at 8:00 AM so I can give a hand to organize the place

Day 6

First of all, at the morning I went to Etihad High School to deliver evaluation papers for the manger so they can evaluate their students before and after the course

Secondly, I didn’t had that much work to do today, because everyone is almost busy to organize for their trip on next week to Jordan ,, it’s like annually meeting they have to attend

Thirdly, I already set earlier meeting for my supervisor to meet Mr.Tridib so he arrived @ 12:00 PM and he set with Bilal and they discussed about what I am going to do during the following weeks, the meeting was almost for half an hour

Finally, we had a weekly meeting @ 3:00 tell 05:00 PM and we discussed about several thing related to the work and they suggest to me to write the minutes (taking notes about what they discussed in the meeting and email it later to the staff)

I left the office at 5:30 PM

Day 5

This is the second week of my work placement

First of all, I began to complete the folders that I started from last week

And I take long time to finish it because it is very big folders and I am already busy with other things that they gave me.

At 12:00 PM I went with Mohammed to Al Etihad School to do several things related to the volunteers who teach there:

1)      There are couple of volunteers who miss some class regarded some personal issues , so Mohammed should make sure that the school can give them more class, since this school is private so they are more strict with their  class than government schools

2)      One of the volunteer supposed to take his class to the paper factory as part of the course plan , so it was difficult for the school to arrange the trip because the students have final assignments

Although with strict rules I see how Mohammed tried to handle these difficulties and the ways he used or talk to manage the problems, so today i learned one of the important skills that I need later in work place  which is problem

Then at 2:00 PM we attend one of the volunteer classes to evaluate it

Actually, it was very active class and the way that the volunteer used was very interesting and I can learn from that how to strength my training abilities

In the end of the day, we back to the office by 4:00 PM, I had few things to complete and I left at 5

What I have for tomorrow?

Mr.Tridib will come tomorrow at 12:00 PM to check how I am doing and he will have meeting with my supervisor’s Hassan and Bilal

Day 4

As usual I arrived at 8:45

Directly I start to organize the folders that I supposed to do

Then, at 11:00 AM I set with Hiba and Bilal almost for one hour and they taught me how the do their finance , since they are non-profit organization so they get the money from some donators such as Barclays or HSBC and the Board of Directors

So from that they divide their expenses to such as their salaries

Also, they use Quick Book Program and everything are listed on this program like the income, assets, the deposits and the credits  

They show me the process of the program like how they do the balance sheet and the Journal Enquire

Already I have background about some basis in accounting so it was a bit easy for me to follow

After that, Hiba send to me excel sheet about the employees personal information I should ask them and fill it  

In the end of the day, I can say it was calm day and I booked an appointment for my supervisor Mr. Tridib with my other supervisor’s Hassan and Bilal on next Monday 21,02,2011 at 12:00 PM  , so he can check how work goes on

Finally, Bilal prepared the schedule that I supposed to follow for the forward weeks

What I have for tomorrow:

Surprise its Holiday!!! Because Prophets Birthday

Day 3

In the third day I went directly to Mariah Q School to attend the class work shop with Dalia, I arrived there at 8:05

We started the class at 8:15

Since it’s the last class for Dalia Success Skills Mentor we distributed the survey to know what the students learned through these classes. Also she gave some gifts for the students who done their CV’s in last class.

After that, we start the Mock Job Interview Activity, and I mentioned to the students how important this to focus in this activity cause after they graduate and enter the college or university they will do it again.

The students divided to 8 groups in each group 3 students the Interviewee, the interviewer and the observer and after each 2 question they change the places

In the end of the session, we distributed the certificated as reward for their attendance.

In the office

I organized some files for Hassan and he gave me a laptop so I can do my work on

I Helped Mohammed in reordering some school files

Finally, Bilal did a G-mail for me so I can use to keep in touch with the stuff.

What I have for tomorrow:

I have to organize some folders in the laptop

Bilal and Hiba will show me some fundamental steps of finance and accounting they use in INJAZ

Day 2

In the second day I arrived at 8:45

On account of Hiba my supervisor will have off starting from next week the manger Sulaf decide to make Bilal and Hassan my new supervisor.

First of all, I set with Hassan he showed me how he do his work regularly .He start his day by writing notes of what he is going to do during the day. Hassan is usually the responsible of the checks and bills

Secondly, I fill the certificate forms which Mohammed and Dalia gave it to me

Thirdly, I checked with Hassan  the contract of Office Mart which INJAZ are going to deal with so they can apply office equipments

Fourthly, I met Hiba she is Finance Manger she showed me how to write the checks ,enter it to the system  and how to collect and organize the bills and the amounts to the folder.

Finally, in the end of the day Mohammed taught me the seven steps for INJAZ UAE orientation and a brief view about how the business run in INJAZ UAE .

Moreover, Blal asked me to write about what I am looking for through these 2 months so he can set the schedule for it .

What I have for tomorrow:

Hassan gave me 2 sheets about INJAZ programs and he is going to test me about it

I will go with Dalia to Mariah Q School to attend the last session of her training classes

Mistakes:

I forgot to brought a notebook to write about my daily notes

Day 1

Actually, my first day was unexcitable and full of activities. Seriously, I didn’t expect to spend my first day at work placement that way!

I went to the conference building at 8:45 as they asked me to do earlier. The place was crowded by high school students and some of university students as well. They gathered to attend JA Innovation Camp. This exciting one day workshop challenges students to find the most innovation solutions to a business challenges through various exercises using critical thinking and problem solving skills.it gives them the opportunity to engage in exciting activities with a mentor from the corporate world that are meant to expend their horizons and introduce entrepreneurship in a fun way.

They invited some leaders from young Arab Leaders .The Young Arab leaders is a network of Arab men and women who have seen the power of the of action in their own lives and currently in prominent position of responsibility for extraordinary achievement .Also there were some partners from other INJAZ such as Saudi, Oman and Yemen to be as mentors for the students.

I met Sulfa the CEO of INJAZ UAE she is very optimistic and enthusiastic person also, I met May, Hassan, Blal, Dalia and Mohammed the stuff who work for INJAZ

INJAZ consider as the link between the government and private organizations and they corporate with a lot of leading companies among UAE. Moreover, I set with Mona Al-Gurg the Chairwomen of Young Arab Leader and we had a little chat about how to encourage the students to become entrepreneurs and their ideas to reach this goal .Also, I had chat with Hala Al-Gargawi emirate entrepreneur, Omar Bandora from INJAZ KSA, Shabeb from INJAZ Oman, May from INJAZ Yemen and some other gusts from UAE university.

Because it was my first day they didn’t ask me to do anything, but I tried to join them, ask them if they need help, organized and participate in some activities.

The Conference done by 2:30 and they let me left the place at 3:15.

Good Morning

I am going to write daily and weekly notes about my experiences in INJAZ  , work placement 

First here is some information I know about INJAZ UAE

They are specialized in conducting and organizing different types of training and programs collaboration with several companies and banks ,, personally, I joined one of the training program was schemed by INJAZ last year in our college,, it was about fundamental banking in City Bank and the work was quite impressive ,, J

What's more,, the company established since 2006 and directed by his highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Bin Saqer Al Nehayan

I will start working on next Sunday 13/02/2011 the working hour begin from 9 AM tell 5 PM with 1 hour break from 12:30 tell 1:30 ,, my supervisor's are Hiba Khataya and Hassan Al Zaidi

I heard a lot of positive things about the work place there and I expect to have good time & experience and gain the skills that I need to apply it later for my training projects which is part of Training and Development subject I have this semester

Finally, I feel excited for my first day,, I already contact them to know more about the location ,, so I hope everything goes fine J
